The six lines of Gate 55

Every gate expresses through six lines — the universal line quality coloured by this gate's specific energy. These are the line-level interpretations most apps reserve for paid readings.

Line 55.1 · Spirit rooted in itself

Your emotional abundance steadies when it rests on a foundation you've built quietly inside — a worked-out understanding of your own moods before you trust them outward. With that ground, your spirit holds even through a low; without it, every empty stretch feels like proof the well has finally run dry.

Line 55.2 · Abundance that can't be summoned

Your fullness of spirit is innate and arrives in its own time, often when you're alone and not trying for it. It can't be performed on demand, and pressure to stay upbeat drains it instantly. Someone sensing your depth can draw it gently into the open; being chased for it only makes it retreat.

Line 55.3 · Moods as the teacher

You come to know your own abundance by riding the swings — the highs that overflow and the empty stretches that follow — learning by feel what genuinely feeds your spirit and what hollows it out. The instability isn't failure; each emotional dead end shows you, viscerally, where your real fullness actually lives.

Line 55.4 · Spirit shared through closeness

Your emotional depth nourishes the people already close to you, and your own abundance is fed by those bonds in return. Shared with trusted intimates, your moods become warmth and connection; spilled onto strangers or the wrong company, the same feeling sours into drama and leaves you depleted.

Line 55.5 · Carrying the mood for others

People look to your spirit to lift the room, projecting onto you the hope that you'll supply the abundance they lack. When you're genuinely full, you become a source others lean on; when you're empty and still expected to glow, that projection curdles into blame — so guard your reserves and promise no joy you don't actually have.

Line 55.6 · Abundance that ripens into trust

Across your life your spirit matures in stages: turbulent, weather-driven feeling in your early years, a quieter watching of your own waves in the middle, and a settled fullness later that others come to rely on. You stop fighting the swings and let them move through you, until your steady ease with your own depth becomes the example.

The I Ching — Hexagram 55, Abundance

Gate 55 is built directly on this hexagram — the ancient oracle Human Design grew out of.

Abundance is the height of fullness, when light and plenty come to their fullest pitch — and the counsel is to meet this peak without dread, like a king who has arrived; be the sun at high noon, shining without anxiety even though noon must give way to afternoon. Thunder and lightning arrive together: with the clarity of fire within and the rousing force of thunder without, the wise person examines disputes precisely and carries out justice with decisive energy. Such fullness is dazzling but cannot be held forever, so spend this hour of plenty fully and well.

Line 55.1

You meet your counterpart, a partner of equal measure, and though you are cut from the same cloth there is no error in joining. Spending this stretch of time side by side is right; to go forward together earns recognition.

Line 55.2

The screens around you have grown so dense that at midday you can pick out the Dipper in the dark sky; press forward to enlighten those above and you will only draw suspicion and resentment. Hold instead to inner sincerity, let truthful devotion radiate and stir the other's heart, and good fortune follows.

Line 55.3

The obscuring curtain is thicker still — at noon you glimpse even the faint small star, and your right arm is broken, your power to act crippled through no fault of yours. There is no blame, yet for now nothing can be carried through.

Line 55.4

Again the canopy is so heavy that the Dipper shows at midday, but now you encounter the one who matches you, the counterpart of the first line. The darkness lifts, the meeting joins equal to equal, and good fortune arrives.

Line 55.5

You draw to yourself people of shining ability and welcome their gifts. Gathering the worthy and capable brings blessing and renown — there is cause for congratulation, and good fortune.

Line 55.6

You raise your house to grand abundance but turn it into a screen over your own household; you peer through the door and it is silent, no one stirring, and for three years no one appears. Walled in by pride and hoarded plenty, shutting others out, you have brought misfortune on yourself.

The Gene Keys — Gene Key 55

In the Gene Keys, the same energy runs a spectrum: Shadow Victimisation → Gift Freedom → Siddhi Freedom.

At the Shadow frequency of Victimisation, we hand our emotional weather over to circumstance and other people, riding waves of moodiness while quietly believing that something outside us must change before we can feel okay. The Gift of Freedom dawns as we stop bracing against those inner tides and learn to ride them with awareness, discovering that no situation can actually imprison the heart that takes responsibility for its own state; at the Siddhic level this matures into pure Freedom, a frequency so unconditioned that joy no longer depends on anything at all.
