Concentration offered inside trusted ties strengthens everyone; pour the same focus toward someone outside your circle, or onto the wrong relationship, and it quietly drains away.
Line 9.5 · The focus others rely on
People come to expect your attention to detail to catch what they've overlooked, casting you as the one who never misses anything. When your focus delivers, you're trusted to hold the whole picture together; when a detail slips, that same reliance hardens into blame — so be careful where you point it.
Line 9.6 · Focus matured into discernment
Over time your relationship with detail evolves from scattered intensity into a calm, sure sense of what deserves attention and what doesn't. Early on you may burn focus on everything or step back from it entirely. Eventually you know exactly where determination matters, and others learn from how precisely you choose.

Gate 9 is built directly on this hexagram — the ancient oracle Human Design grew out of.
A single small force checks a much greater one — like a thin bank of clouds drifting in from the west that thickens but lets down no rain. The time calls for restraint and patient preparation rather than force: you work on what lies near and within reach, refining yourself and your influence while the larger movement stays beyond your grasp. The Image is wind moving across the open sky, with nothing solid to seize, so the wise person tends to the surface of things, polishing character and outward grace until the moment ripens.

Line 9.3
Like a cart whose spokes have sprung loose from the wheels, the joint effort jolts to a halt and can go no further. Husband and wife turn their eyes from each other, unable to keep accord — the small power is overreaching, and forcing things ahead only breaks them.
Line 9.4
In a strained moment when harm seems close at hand, sincerity clears the danger away and the dread dissolves. Holding to what is true carries you past the threat without wound and without fault.
Line 9.5
Your sincerity binds others to you so steadily that trust itself becomes a shared strength. As though joined hand in hand, you gather your neighbors in and grow richer together, never at their cost.
Line 9.6
At last the rain falls and the long restraint has done its work, so for now you may rest, since patient effort and steady character have reached their fullness. But the balance is fragile: the moon stands nearly full, and to press or assert yourself further from here invites misfortune.
